The BookTrust is the UK's largest reading charity and reaches millions of children every year with books, resources and support to get every child reading, regularly and by choice. They have some fantastic tools on their website:

  • their book finder tool lets you select your age and chose your genre to see their book recommendations
  • their Great Book Guide lists the top 100 new books released in the last year and is searchable by age
  • their 100 best books over 100 years for classic books is also searchable by age
  • every month, they review their pick of the best reads for a variety of ages - they also link to their back-catalogue of reviews in previous months.

World Book Day

World Book Day is a charity supported by National Book Tokens and they distribute over 15 million £1 book tokens (valid from Thursday 17 February – Sunday 27 March 2022) to children and young people every year on World Book Day.

Their "What shall I read?" webpage offers suggestions such as this term's top reads and recommended authors. They also offer books for £1 and free audio-books - see

Books For Topics

BooksForTopics recommend children's booklists and sort them by topic or age, with suggested lists for year groups and Key Stages. Their Reading for Pleasure hub ais with book selection for primary school children.

Bracknell Forest Libraries

Bracknell Forest Libraries run a "book of the month" reading list for children (with another for adults!) showing the current choice and list of the last 12 months. They also offer physical books, e-books and audio books (through BorrowBox), events, digital newspapers and magazines and more.
